Vinita is an award-winning artist and philanthropist based in Mumbai, India. Bonsai Vatika is a celebration of her two enduring passions: art and nature. As a bonsai enthusiast, she has spent decades cultivating and nurturing a diverse collection of trees. As a canvas artist, she creates flora-inspired paintings, often with a spiritual essence.

Whether horticulture or painting - reflects a deep connection with nature itself, as she blends observation with personal expression.
Vinita sees nature as a means to connect with the deeper rhythms of life. Creation, growth and prosperity exist in harmony with intent, purpose and service.
She is a passionate advocate for local tribal communities. She regularly works with NGOs to ensure equity and dignity of life at the grassroots level. Her support extends to formal education, employment, healthcare for the elderly and animal care in rural India.
This idea of mindfulness and meaningful engagement with the world we live in has always been at the heart of Vinita’s professional and personal endeavours.
SELECT PROJECTS
In 2024, Vinita designed a bonsai landscape for a private villa. Since it was made for a multi-generational family, both aesthetics and usability were kept in mind. The garden was planned based on the local climate, low-maintenance needs and the family’s travel patterns. What emerged was a sanctuary that offered peace and meaning for the elders while sparking curiosity and joy for the children.

Landscape Design

For a single-family home, Vinita focused on creating something visually distinctive yet practical. Completed over a carefully planned timeline using locally suited plant species, the garden was built for simplicity and ease of care. There were separate sections for berries, herbs and vegetables. Designed to be maintained by teenagers, it balances a unique aesthetic with everyday usability.

Farm to Table Design

At the height of the pandemic, Vinita crafted a bespoke bonsai garden for a housing society. To reflect the diverse tastes and personalities of its residents, she thoughtfully chose a combination of Premna Microphylla, Ficus Benjamina, Desmodium (small-leaf, mini & large), Bougainvillea Pixie, Streblus Asper, Wrightia, Buxus and Bucida. The result was a vibrant space that brought calmness, curiosity, renewal and a shared sense of joy during a challenging time.
